Service Station Architecture in Legarda by AH Associates
Critical thinking, different image
A critical appraisal of the typical pattern of petrol, including factory and trading post, has been the source of a project with Acciona, a pioneer in the field of bio-fuels, aims to create a distinctive brand image of its activity , the new highway linking Pamplona and Logroño.
The place is an artificial plane created by clearing the road layout and framed by the landscape of the Camino de Santiago, against Legarda small town in the foothills of Mount of Atonement which also Acciona, formerly EHN, installed the first aerogenes Navarra.
Technology, local construction system
A program that requires maximum efficiency is incorporated into volumes that seek to integrate into the landscape. Not intended to appear as an element of the art technology, though it is, but as a piece rooted in the environment, the construction of place, able to integrate culturally it to become a meeting point for travelers.
The plane broke cover incorporates solar panels to allow natural energy autonomy of a facility that houses the sale of biodiesel, bioethanol, and in the future, hydrogen.
Mass of stone, wood flight
The service building is housed in two volumes of sandstone coupled with bone and anchored to the banks, in contrast to the long flights of wooden shelters that give prominence to the passage of light through photovoltaic panels dematerialize the slender steel columns the marquee.
The result is a different service station, sensitive and subtle in its encounter with the rural area, rather than as a sustainable building, is shown as a nearby example of constructive intelligence latent in place.
