Municipal Library in Malaga by Catroferro & Jacobo Dominguez

The architecture sometimes becomes the object regenerating the environment. In this case the project of young architects Catroferro and Jacobo Dominguez looking aesthetically and culturally regenerate a developing area of the 60 in Malaga. To integrate the neighborhood to the library and vice versa has designed a building open, permeable to large glazed areas and corridors that cross. It was also creating a small park surrounding the library, creating an environment that contrasts with the cement blocks of various heights around the library. Despite its simplicity find elements of great originality as a car park roof, made of concrete.

The lower floor is devoted to activities that require less concentration and periodicals, the playground or the borrow area. The upper floor has a height of four meters, housing the study area, an audiovisual room and service area and storage.

The library overlooking the garden, facing north, taking advantage of natural light, being protected by a wall of concrete from the distractions that can come from nearby streets. The library has received numerous awards including First Prize in the College of Architects of Malaga in the Public Facilities section. The library includes an auditorium for 80 people, separated from the library and works as an independent entity of this.
