“Loft of man” by Flavio Dominguez (Casa FOA 2009)

Maximalism contemporary.

The identity of the loft space is born the concept of unique, offering the possibility of interaction of various activities.

The search for simple, contemporary and maximalist party of the extreme solution in achieving our aspirations can be some of the features in which we use to build and develop our project.

We decided then that the space outside the protagonist through the material and lighting, reading a single envelope, within which the various functions materialize.

The space is treated as a container and as an element, synthetic lines, clear and conclusive.

The materials are simple but representative.

Simple textures and especially economic.

Well be able to resolve the vertical walls and furniture with sheets of MDF (medium density fiberboard) that present a uniform and homogeneous structure with a fine texture, which are developed by different interventions for each situation.

Housed in the former Palermo Hippodrome Box Office, the design seeks to peel off the walls of the context of plans folded to form a glimpse of the woodwork and leave as part of the town’s history.

The big play of lines of continuous wall, marks the dynamics of the movement, accentuated by the illumination of a flock of cranes, which support a fundamental concept: La Paz.

The loft includes a desk area, an area for dining, a relaxing area for recreation and leisure.

These functions are sewn by a continuous thick line but variant resolution in all cases identified by the use of “reflection.”

Is inserted in the middle of single space, with sobriety, synthesis and symbolism a “Box” in pure form, embodied in the whole surface of sheets of MDF.

It is proposed as an oasis of calm, quiet and reflection.

Intervene in this volume with a creative proposal, leaving out the objects recognized that normally respond to the needs of sleeping, meeting and relaxation.

Are used to coat the white melanima everything inside the “box”: walls, ceiling and floor where a large carpet, fabric and indigenous crafts, climb the box invited to enter.

To meet operational requirements, are arranged a series of cushions joined together with the use of strong colors by means of their role.

So try to get away from the general idea and be sleeping, causing the unification of the two functions given by the equipment design.

The lighting is sectioned serving different functions.

It is worth noting the play of light and shadow, as seen in the niches in the walls, producing the effect of inclined planes that cast a shadow on themselves.

Using natural light create an effect depending on time of day, so, these are accompanied by artificial light generated by sconces wall height adjustable.

In the kitchen area is resolved only element of Silestone countertop Chrome sustained at its end by a floor lamp that illuminates the plane of use.

Finally, the rest of the lighting is on time and something dramatic.
